Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a "Body-oriented Talk Therapy" and works with the physiological effects of trauma, processing the distressing symptoms of trauma through the body. This approach to therapy can help you access the physical sensations, thoughts and emotions and learn to more effectively regulate your nervous system when it becomes overwhelmed.

With a caring and skilled therapist, you can learn to track your body sensations, emotions and thoughts so as to not live at the mercy of a dis-regulated nervous system. You can be free to live the life you want to live, have improved relationships and live mindfully in the present moment instead of allowing your history to control your destiny by reliving past experiences or being anxiously focused on the future.

I am a Certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Therapist and am experienced in working with symptoms of PTSD, Trauma and Dissociation.

Since re-living of trauma often occurs in the form of physical sensations, which, in turn, precipitate intense trauma-related emotions of terror and helplessness, learning how to manage and uncouple physical sensations from trauma-based emotions has emerged as one of the essential aspects of the effective treatment of PTSD.
